Sun Run 2012

The Kitselas Sun Run team is being led by Wabsuwilaks’m Gitselasu this year. It is part of the Physical Education component for the students. Adult community members are welcome to join the Sun Run Team in the physical workout and accompany the group to Vancouver for the Sun Run in April. There will be expectations of regular attendance and fund-raising that will be part of the whole experience.  Participants under 18 years-of-age that want to attend the training, or the Sun Run, must be accompanied by a parent (parent and the child must both register for the Sun Run).

The team will meet every Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Adult School in Gitaus and at the Satellite Health Station on Kulspai starting January 4th 2012  and for a minimum 8 weeks every Friday at 5:30 PM in the gym at Thornhill Junior Secondary starting January 6th 2012.  Call 250-635-3301 for more information.

Objectives:
• To engage the community in a physical workout, that is scheduled for 3 times a week
• To improve physical and mental health
• Team building, through fund-raising efforts and working together while training
• Have fun while learning that a regular workout routine is attainable and enjoyable

Expectations:
• That all participants are at least 18 years of age, if under 18 they must be accompanied by a parent
• Committed to making all 3 workout times per week until the Sun Run
• To be ready for the eventual rigorous workout that will ensue near the end of the training
• To be respectful and honest
• While training, or in Vancouver conduct will be important, we will all be representatives of Kitselas and we will all have to conduct ourselves with dignity, integrity and honour
